In August of 2017, the category 4 storm Hurricane Harvey made landfall. Devastating much of the Texas eastern seaboard, many establishments like Lakeside Country Club in Houston were heavily damaged by flooding caused by the storm. The hurricane destroyed much of their clubhouse, including their food service spaces and bars, to the point that everything had to be demolished. This is where C&T stepped in to provide expertise and valuable solutions.
C&T Design first helped to set up a temporary outdoor kitchen and dining room on two of the club's tennis courts so that member dining was not completely shut down. Then, after thorough discussions, conversations, and consultations with key members of their management team including the club's Executive Chef Craig Meyer, CEC, AAC, C&T was not only able to tweak the design of a new and more functional layout for the clubs’ main and banquet kitchens, five onsite bars, and ten walk in refrigerators and coolers, but also helped in facilitating the construction and implementation process for all of the new foodservice spaces.
Finally, after 3 years of planning, construction, installation, and final touches, the country club was complete. In the end, C&T assisted in the rebuilding of over 7500 sq ft of food service, bar, and walk-in spaces.
Established in 1951, Lakeside Country Club now hosts over 1000 members and offers amenities like golf courses, tennis courts, fitness centers, and swimming pools on its 209 acres. The new construction post-Hurricane Harvey finished in 2020 just shy of the club's 70th anniversary. We are proud to have been involved in bringing this Houston institution back to life after they experienced such loss.
